A delegation from the Clough Center paid a visit to Colombia from February 28 to Mar 5, 2026.  This delegation included Clough Center Doctoral Fellows, Faculty Affiliates, and the Center’s benefactor, Charles Clough Jr., ’64. This visit was at the invitation of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana to attend a conference on recent democratic developments in Colombia.

World University News, an online global higher education publication, has featured a report on the Clough Center’s trip, during which participants met with politicians, local scholars, and activists who have contributed to democratic progress in Colombia, including the resolution of the civil war. In turn, the Doctoral Fellows, who attended seminars this year on constitutional democracy as part of their Fellowship, shared their thoughts and insights in a variety of panel discussions as well as in meetings with Colombian scholars and community leaders.

The Clough Center’s visit gained the attention of University World News because of our 2025-26 annual theme, “Democratic Resilience.” Full coverage of this trip can be found via this link.
